Matt is a theatre director based in London, currently developing new projects. His recent directing includes a rehearsed reading of Monument by Rhys Warrington for the Royal Court's Open Submissions Festival, and a development workshop of The Wilderness by Philippa Lawford.

He has worked regularly for the Royal Shakespeare Company, assisting directors Blanche McIntyre, Simon Godwin and Michael Boyd. He was Associate Director on the Olivier Award-winning
Nell Gwynn in the West End, starring Gemma Arterton, and on its subsequent UK tour. He was Assistant Director on Tom Stoppard’s The Invention of Love at Hampstead Theatre, starring
Simon Russell Beale, and to Christopher Luscombe on productions for Chichester Festival Theatre, Theatre Royal Bath and Shakespeare’s Globe.

Matt also writes and directs short films. His debut, Back Home, featuring Ralph Davis and Matilda Ziegler, was produced by Aimee Lou Wood; his second, The Gap, won Best UK Short at Shared Visions Film Festival 2024.

Alongside his directing he leads workshops and has taught at secondary schools and drama schools, including Mountview and Drama Studio London.

Matt trained on the MA Directing programme at LAMDA.
